In a very lucky turn of events, I had the privilege to fly home and surprise my family and Makenna for Thanksgiving! I enjoyed every second of it. Two things happened to make it possible. A great high school friend who works for Delta offered one of her buddy passes so I could get home for a reasonable price, and the the second was the pediatrician I started rotating with that week had already scheduled to take most of the week off, so hence I had most of the week off. I made the decision to fly home Monday night, and Tuesday morning I drove two hours to Cincinnati to catch a standby plane to SLC...since that looked like the best way to get home flying standby during the holidays. I was nervous about flying standby during the holidays, but luckily for me holiday travel was way down and I had no problem whatsoever getting on the flights to and from SLC. Bradley picked me up from the SLC airport(he surprised everyone the night before...no one knew we were both coming home for Thanksgiving) and we proceeded to surprise each person in the family, starting with Lichelle, then Mom, Emily, Taylee and Sam. Then my family followed me to Makenna's work and video recorded me walking up to Mak's desk with flowers and surprising her! Then we we met my Dad and Jami at a restaurant and you guessed it, surprised them. To see the look of shock on everyone's face was priceless. I was grateful to get the chance to spend some extra time with my family and Makenna since my Christmas break is only a week long and I'll be pretty busy for most of that week(but I'm A ok for the reasons i'll be busy). Here are some of the highlights of the trip:
1. Enjoyed going standby with Makenna to Savior of the World and seeing Grant and Emma.
2. Loved playing board games and Rockband with the family
3. Got to do some Christmas shopping with Mak and my parents
4. Helped Rig up the lights with Dad(I miss doing that kind of stuff)
5. Spent Thanksgiving day with Makenna's family and learned first hand just how amazing of a cook Makenna is! It's a great sign of good things to come in the future! ;) Her mom was in South Africa so Mak was assigned to make most of the dinner, and she did great! I especially loved her herb, lemon and orange turkey, deviled eggs and lemon glazed sweet potatoes!
5. And just being around family is refreshing!

Lastly, Mr. Naumanator let me park my car at his apartment in Cincy and took me to and from the airport. Thanks man, I appreciated it! I also got to spend that Sunday with him and his wife...they are truly good people!
